The differences between Solid and Engineered Flooring.
There are many types of flooring in the shops which you might consider, from stone floors to carpets. For those who are looking for a unique look and a type of flooring which is able to make an instant impression, wood flooring is a top consideration. However, not all wood flooring are alike. I fact, there are two main types, solid and engineered.
Here is just a few differences between solid and engineered flooring:
- Each plank of solid wood flooring is made from complete wood without any additional materials. The plank is covered in a thin layer of coating to protect the wood from minor damage and gives the wood its desired finish. Whereas engineered wood flooring is made from real wood together with MDF and Plywood. The use of these three materials together is why this type of floor is called engineered. Similar to the solid wood flooring, each plank is covered in a thin layer of coating to protect the wood.
- Because solid wood flooring is made from complete wood, many owners regard solid flooring as extra strong which leads to extended longevity. Further more, the use of real wood means that owners are able to sand the floor which can extend its longevity even further. Also in some cases, the use of solid flooring may cause a problem. Solid flooring may react to temperature fluctuations by expanding or shrinking. Engineered flooring will not react in the same manner.
Before buying your wood flooring, research which wood flooring is the most suitable for you and your surface.
Have a good day.
Hardwood flooring is still going strong.
Stats show that hardwood flooring and real wood floors are still popular despite recession. Hardwood, solid oak flooring, engineered wood flooring and solid wood flooring are all long-lasting choices of flooring all around the world. Increasing amounts of people are still replacing the carpets in their homes with hardwood flooring. Despite the expense involved in purchasing a hardwood floor in the midst of a tough economic climate. Though consumers are looking to reduce their outgoings as much as possible, industry experts say that people are still purchasing solid oak wood flooring because they see it as a long-term investment in their property, which will pay for itself over. Also, solid oak flooring is very much in fashion in the interior design world, primarily because wood flooring is a very versatile choice of flooring and suits a variety of homes and decor. Carpet doesn’t last as long as wood flooring, it wears out very easily and soon looks shabby. People still would rather choose a more expensive choice of flooring that stands the test of time over a cheaper, less hard wearing product.
